MRI Scan & Permanent Jewellery: What You Need to Know
Share
Have an MRI coming up? Here's what you need to know about your permanent jewellery.
If you're booked in for an MRI and wearing our permanent jewellery, don't worry — removing it at home is straightforward and easy! Don’t let the fear of an MRI stop you from designing your own claspless bracelet or anklet
It’s Why We Use a Jump Ring
Most of us will never need an MRI in our lifetime — but if like our jeweller Charlotte you do, we want you to be prepared.
It's actually one of the reasons we use a small welded jump ring rather than fusing the chain together entirely. We want your jewellery to last for many years, and we never want you to have to ruin a piece you love for an MRI or any reason that isn't your fault. The jump ring can simply be replaced, meaning your bracelet or anklet can be put back on at any time that's convenient for you.
How to Remove It at Home
Using a small pair of scissors, nail clippers or snips, carefully cut through the little welded jump ring — take care not to cut the chain itself or any charm. Once the ring is cut, your bracelet or anklet will simply come off. Keep it safe and we'll reweld it straight back on after your MRI.
Can You Keep It On?
Always inform your radiographer that you're wearing permanent jewellery before your scan. They will advise whether it needs to be removed based on your specific procedure. We recommend removal to be safe
Regular MRI Patient? We've Got You
If you're someone who has MRIs regularly, we can add a clasp to your piece at any point — turning your permanent jewellery into a traditional, removable piece that you can take on and off yourself whenever you need to.
How do I Book a Reweld or Clasp Appointment?
Ready to get linked back up? If your permanent jewellery was made and purchased from us please WhatsApp us on 07467733450 or send us a message on Instagram to Book your re weld appointment. Rewelds take 10 minutes and are usually only £15-£20 to cover the cost of our time and the new jump ring
What if I got my permanent jewellery elsewhere / not made by you?
Unfortunately even though we do all sorts of jewellery repairs , we DO NOT repair or reweld permanent jewellery bought elsewhere. You will need to contact the company who made your jewellery. This is because we do not know the quality of the work , chains or guarantee what materials were used for your piece to be welded against your skin unfortunately.
