What is Permanent Jewellery?

Permanent jewellery is designed by YOU in store and then expertly welded together without the need for a clasp, for a continuous glam look. Clasps can be unsightly and make bracelets difficult to put on. Experiencing designing every element of your jewellery yourself is an exciting and unique experience — where else can you truly design your special piece and get it custom made while you wait?

Is it Safe?

Absolutely. Our specialist jeweller Charlotte has years of experience. We provide special protective eyewear and a layer of thick material between your skin and the jewellery when welding. The weld is performed using a specialist pulse arc jewellery welder at only 1–2% power and at no point does the weld touch your skin. The whole process is completely painless, super fun and very addictive. The weld itself is only 3 milliseconds — blink and you'd miss it!

Can I Have a Clasp?

Absolutely. Clasps can be added to any of our chains. If you choose a clasp option you will also receive a luxury Jessica & James gift box to store your new jewels in.

What is the Minimum Age?

Minimum age is 14 years old. All under 17s must be accompanied by a parent or grandparent.

What Chains and Charms Do You Have?

We have over 45 different styles of chains and over 100 different charms and connectors to choose from — from initials to hearts to real gemstones, all in real 925 sterling silver, 14ct gold filled or hypoallergenic stainless steel.

What to Expect at the Appointment?

You'll have lots of time to choose your favourite chain and charms and design your perfect piece. Once chosen, you'll be measured for a perfect custom fit — we check you're 100% happy before welding. Then it's time to get welded and voilà — you're ready to take on the world in style!

Will it Set Off Airport Scanners?

No. All of our jewellery is made from quality materials that are not magnetic and will not set off airport security. Just like your wedding ring, you do not need to remove your permanent jewellery at the airport.

Can I Bathe in it?

Yes. Bath, shower, swim — the world's your oyster. Our jewellery is fully waterproof and made to be lived in 24/7. No tarnishing, no turning green.

Do I Have to Pre-Book?

Yes — we work on an appointment only basis to ensure you receive the best possible experience. Book via our Fresha page linked on the homepage, or click below.

How Long Does it Take?

A single appointment takes approximately 30 minutes. For joint appointments please allow 1 hour.

Can Welded Jewellery Be Removed?

'Permanent' simply means there is no clasp. If you need to remove your jewellery, this can be done easily with a pair of scissors. Please cut the welded jump ring only — do NOT cut through the chain itself. Cutting the jump ring means we can re-weld your piece with a new jump ring at any time. Re-weld service is only £10–15. Please be aware that if the chain is cut instead of the welded jump ring, this will result in the chain being broken and unrepairable.

What About MRIs?

Simply cut the welded jump ring (not the chain) with sharp scissors before your MRI or surgery. We can re-weld or add a clasp afterwards.

Can I Return My Welded Jewellery?

As the jewellery is a bespoke, made-to-measure service tailored specifically to you — as with any personalised offering — all sales are final. We ensure you are 100% happy with your design and fit before welding.

What if I Break My Jewellery?

We carry out a weld inspection before you leave. If the weld itself breaks within 6 months of purchase, we will repair it completely free of charge. Please note that we are in no way responsible for any broken or damaged chain or charms. Permanent jewellery is susceptible to damage by nature as it is worn continuously. Accidental damage can arise from normal daily wear. If accidentally broken please send us a photo so we can assess the damage and quote to repair.

What Happens When an Item Sells Out?

We pride ourselves on slow-made, unique and limited edition pieces. We never make large batches. If a product sells out, Charlotte may occasionally restock with limited numbers — but once it's gone, it's usually gone. If you love something, don't miss out.

Is Your Jewellery Suitable for Sensitive Skin?

Yes. Our online collections are made using the highest quality hypoallergenic stainless steel and natural semi-precious gemstones — completely nickel and lead free.

Do You Ship Internationally?

We currently ship to the UK and the USA only. Due to Brexit regulations we unfortunately had to stop shipping to the EU and Europe.

Do You Make Custom Orders?

How Will My Order Arrive?

Your order will arrive by Royal Mail in 2–4 working days (UK) or 10–18 working days (USA) in a recyclable cardboard box. All our packaging is fully recyclable and biodegradable — we're proudly anti-plastic.
